Manicure Monday with Private Weekend by Essie

For today’s Mani Monday I’m featuring Private Weekend by Essie. With only about a week until Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer, I figured wearing this sparkling crisp white shade would be appropriate.

Basecoat: Seche Clear. Color: 2 coats of Private Weekend by Essie. Topcoat: Seche Vite Dry Fast.

This is from Essie’s summer 2015 collection and is seriously one of my favorite white nail polishes. I love the way that it applies, it is opaque in 2 coats, isn’t streaky and has a subtle hint of shimmer.

What are you wearing on your nails this week? Have any fun plans for the end of the summer? Let me know in the comments!

Manicure Monday with Tart Deco by Essie

Another Monday brings another manicure and today I’m featuring Tart Deco by Essie, which is a beautiful coral polish. Also, I’ll be back with more weekly posts in September . . . I’ve been taking a little break, focussing mainly on nails and enjoying the remainder of the summer!

Tart Deco is such a classic and one of my all time favorites. I love this color year round, but it looks especially amazing in the summer! If you don’t have it in your collection, I highly suggest picking it up. I’m also pretty sure that this is the 3rd appearance that this beauty has made on my blog! It must be love!

Manicure Monday with Pret-a-Surfer by Essie

Happy Mani Monday! Today I’m featuring Pret-a-Surfer by Essie, which is described as a marine blue nail polish. This is from Essie’s summer 2015 collection and this is the second time I’m featuring this color . . . check out my first post by clicking here.

This is one of my favorite blues from the pigmentation to the formula. This applies so incredibly smooth and even and looks absolutely perfect with 2 coats. If you don’t have this in your collection, you need it. I’m happy that I took Pret-a-Surfer out for another spin this summer!

Basecoat: Seche Clear. Color: Small + Cute = ♥ by OPI. Topcoat: Seche Vite Dry Fast.

This is the ultimate summer color and the pale pink looks wicked with sun kissed skin. This applies so easily and evenly for a light nail polish with a white base and if you’re a fan of shades like this, I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

Manicure Monday with Borrowed and Blue by Essie

Happy Mani Monday and happy August 1st; the summer is flying by. I’m kicking off the new month by wearing Borrowed and Blue by Essie, which is a pretty pastel blue.

Basecoat: Seche Clear. Color: 2 coats of Borrowed and Blue by Essie. Topcoat: Seche Vite Dry Fast.

I love pastels in the summer and Borrowed and Blue is a really beautiful color. This was opaque in 2 coats, but was patchy in spots because of the white base, so I touched up any areas before applying a topcoat.

Flashback Friday: Throwing Shade 1980’s Style

I’ve had this pair of Maui Jim sunglasses in my collection for ages because they originally belonged to my grandmother and were purchased at some point in the 1980’s. I love sunglasses and I love all things vintage, so let’s travel back 30 something years!

Honestly, these don’t look as dated as I expected them to look, but some of the classic 80’s characteristics are the mirrored lenses, and the frame shape and color. These thin bright blue frames kind of remind me of an oversized wayfarer style.

Would you rock these today? Let me know in the comments!

Ideal Complex: Revitalizing Eye Gel by PCA Skin

I was sent a tube of the Ideal Complex: Revitalizing Eye Gel by PCA Skin via BrandBacker in exchange for an honest review. This is said to treat dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles, and sagging eyelids, with an impressive blend of peptides, growth factor and stem cell extract in a light weight gel.

Directions

After cleansing and toning, pat a small amount of product gently around the eye area and on the eyelid, in the morning and evening.

Key Ingredients

  • Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3: A novel peptide that mimics retinoic acid (vitamin A) to increase cell turnover and collagen synthesis without causing negative side effects, such as irritation and stinging.
  • Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Callus Culture Extract (Orange Stem Cell Extract): Increases the production of collagen and elastin; and organizes and redensifies the dermal structure to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and increases elasticity and firmness.
  • Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract and Darutoside: Reduces upper eyelid sagging, strengthens the dermis and reduces crows feet wrinkles, while addressing dark circles and puffiness.
  • Myristoyl Pentapeptide-8 and Myristoyl Hexapeptide-4: Peptides that stimulate collagen synthesis and tissue repair, and provide an effective alternative to human growth factor.
  • Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38: A next generation peptide that stimulates collagen I, III and IV; fibronectin; hyarulonic acid; and laminin-5 to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate: A next generation peptide that has a fast acting wrinkle smoothing effect around the eyes, diminishing wrinkles and expression lines.

I’ve been using this twice a day since receiving it and overall I think that this is a good eye treatment because it is so fortifying. First, I like that this doesn’t have much of a scent to it because I don’t enjoy putting heavily scented products on my eyes, so that is a huge plus. I think that this is one of the more unique eye treatments that I’ve used because it can be applied to both the undereye area and the eyelids. The consistency of this is a lightweight gel that absorbs quickly and is very easy to apply.

The peptide that mimics retinol is great because the skin around the eyes is delicate and it truly caused no irritation. It is clear that all of the peptides in this treatment have been specially selected to work together to provide the best and most effective results. Some improvements that I’ve seen are a decrease in puffiness and some brightening in my undereye area, which I think that I can credit to the vitamin C in the orange stem cell extract. The main difference that I’ve noticed while using the Revitalizing Eye Gel is that the skin around my eyes feels softer in texture, moisturized and overall healthier. I’ve seen these results after using this for a week and I look forward to seeing continued results with long term use. I think that this is great for aging skin and for those, like myself, that want to get a head start with preventative anti aging skincare.
